I did the 2-day Machu Picchu hike in January 2026, and despite it being the rainy season, it was an absolutely fantastic experience. A huge part of that was my guide, Elvis. Even with the challenging weather, he made sure I still saw all the key highlights and adjusted the pace and plan so everything felt comfortable and safe. His commentary throughout the hike and at Machu Picchu itself was excellent: full of history, cultural context, and fascinating insights that really brought the site to life. Elvis was knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about what he does, which made the experience feel personal and memorable rather than rushed or generic. The rain never took away from the magic and, in some ways, even added to the atmosphere. I highly recommend this hike, especially if you’re lucky enough to have Elvis as your guide.
