Hey, adventurer! If you’re dreaming of hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu but want a touch of luxury, glamping is the way to go. Picture sleeping in spacious tents with cozy beds, enjoying hot showers in the Andes, and savoring gourmet meals crafted by local chefs. At Kenko Adventures, we take Inca Trail glamping to the next level, especially with our Inca Trail Classic Glamping 4 Days. Here’s my practical advice to make the most of this experience, from prep tips to what to expect on the trail.

What Makes Inca Trail Glamping So Special?

Glamping blends the thrill of trekking with hotel-like comfort. On our Inca Trail Classic Glamping 4 Days, you hike ancient Inca paths surrounded by Andean vistas, then relax in roomy tents with comfy mats and warm duvets. Each day, you freshen up with hot showers (yes, in the mountains!) and enjoy Peruvian dishes like lomo saltado or quinoa soup, prepared by our chefs. Our small groups, capped at 8–10 hikers, make it feel like a journey with friends.

Glamping isn’t just for the full 4 day experience. If time’s tight, our Inca Trail 2 Days takes you to Wiñay Wayna and Machu Picchu with added comfort, or the Inca Trail 1 Day offers a quick hike to Inti Punku with the same top-notch service. Here are my tips to rock your glamping adventure, no matter which tour you pick.

Get Ready for Altitude: Acclimatization Is Key

The Inca Trail hits heights of up to 4,200 meters at Dead Woman’s Pass (on the 4 day tour). To avoid altitude sickness, spend at least two days in Cusco before starting. Stroll the city, visit Sacsayhuamán, and sip coca tea to adjust. At Kenko, we give you a pre-trek briefing with tips like staying hydrated and pacing yourself on climbs. If you’re doing the Inca Trail 1 Day, which is less demanding altitude-wise, we still suggest a day in Cusco to feel your best.

Pack Smart: Less Is More

Glamping means you don’t need to haul much, as we provide tents, mats, and sleeping bags. Pack a light backpack with layers (Inca Trail weather shifts fast), sturdy trekking boots, and a reusable water bottle. For the Inca Trail 2 Days or 1 Day, a 20-liter pack is enough since you’re not camping as long. Pro tip: bring a portable charger for your phone, you’ll want to snap every view, from Llactapata to Machu Picchu’s sunrise.

Train for the Trek: Don’t Underestimate the Climbs

Glamping makes nights cozy, but the Inca Trail is still a physical challenge. For the Inca Trail Classic Glamping 4 Days, train with 2–3-hour hill walks, three times a week, a month before. If you’re set for the Inca Trail 2 Days, with fewer ascents, daily 1 hour walks will do. The Inca Trail 1 Day, covering about 12 km, only needs moderate fitness. We carry oxygen and first-aid kits, but prep helps you enjoy the journey more.

Discover Hidden Gems on the Inca Trail

The Inca Trail is packed with lesser-known treasures. On our 4 day tour, you’ll pass sites like Runkurakay and Sayacmarca, quieter than Machu Picchu but just as captivating. Our guides share stories about these ruins, connecting you to Inca culture. If you choose the Inca Trail 2 Days, don’t miss Wiñay Wayna, a stunning site travelers rave about. Even on the Inca Trail 1 Day, Inti Punku offers an unforgettable Machu Picchu sunrise view.

Embrace the Social Impact of Your Trip

One thing I love about Kenko Adventures is our commitment to Andean communities. Every trek, whether 1, 2, or 4 days, supports our “Warm Andes” project, donating jackets to kids in remote villages. Our porters and chefs are locals, and their stories enrich the journey. When you hike with us, you’re not just adventuring, you’re making a difference in Cusco.

Whether you choose the full experience of the Inca Trail Classic Glamping 4 Days, the balanced pace of the Inca Trail 2 Days, or the quick adventure of the Inca Trail 1 Day, Kenko Adventures ensures every step is unforgettable. Get ready, pack light, and let the Andes surprise you.
