You must take into account the following: The Inca Trail is one of the most requested treks in Peru to visit Machu Picchu and the quota is limited due to the restrictions ordered by the Ministry of Culture of Peru and SERNANP (for the correct conservation of the heritage)
There are several tours for the Inca Trail, the most requested is the traditional 4-day Inca Trail . The tickets issued for this tour are usually sold out between May and July of every year. It has as alternatives the One Day Inca Trail , Short Inca Trail or theInca Trail 5 Days that includes a tour of Cusco and the Sacred Valley. (You can verify the availability here )
You are not allowed to do the Inca Trail on your own . Only the authorized operators can carry out the Inca Trail, besides the entrance tickets are delivered only to the operators.
There are many laws and regulations that operators must comply with to operate the Inca Trail, which is why you are not allowed to do the trek without the corresponding permits and without an operator.
The Inca Trail One Day hike starts on kilometer 104 of the train route from Cusco to Machu Picchu, this route has a total of 12 kilometers of cobbled and authentic Inca road, through all of this adventure we will visit some archaeological sites like Chachabamba, Wiñayhuayna, Intipata and Inti Punku. Upon completion of the hike, our service includes a 3 stars hotel. The second day, coordinating previously with your guide, you will have the chance to appreciate the impressive Sunrise at Machu Picchu citadel. If you made your booking of Machu Picchu Mountain or HuaynaPicchu Mountain entrance tickets then you will have time to make these extra hikes from. there are the best panoramic views (please ask about Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain tickets at booking time).
The Classic 4 Day Inca Trail, starts on Sacred Valley of the Incas, in the Piscacucho community which is located 2 hours away from Cusco city.From here, our visitors will start the hike and visit some archaeological sites as Patallaqta and other local communities, during this hike we will ascend more than 2000 inca steps towards the highest point nowadays known as Death woman’s pass which is located 4200 m.a.s.l., from here the descend to tropical forests will iniciate, our biologists have identificated more than 250 types of orchids, 450 types of birds and also the interandean forest bear, all of them inside Machupicchu Natural Reserve. Another archaeological site will be visited as well: Pacaymayu, Runkuracay, Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca, Intipata, Wiñayhuayna, Intipunku and finally Machupicchu which is considered one of the 7 worldwides wonder.
