We want to ensure your journey to Machu Picchu and beyond is seamless. Prepare for a truly transformative experience with Kenko Adventures. Let us help you unlock the magic of the Andes.
Planning Your Peruvian Adventure
We believe a well-prepared traveler is a happy traveler. Here, we cover key aspects. These tips ensure your comfort and safety. From weather patterns to personal well-being, we have you covered.
Understanding Peru's Diverse Weather
The weather in Peru is incredibly unique. It defies the traditional four seasons. You might even experience all of them in a single day! We strongly recommend packing for every possibility. Be ready for both brilliant sunshine and sudden rain.
The Peruvian coast offers warm temperatures. However, winter (June to November) can bring cooler weather. Global warming impacts our local weather patterns. Melting glaciers in the Peruvian Andes contribute to these shifts. This affects the normal development of our climate.
In the Andes, we primarily experience two distinct seasons:
- Dry Season: This period spans from late April to late October. This is when the first rains typically begin. It is often considered the best time to visit Machu Picchu. You can enjoy clear skies and avoid travel inconveniences.
- Rainy Season: This season runs from October through late March. We advise all our visitors to use waterproof bags. Sudden heavy rains can occur, even after sunny mornings.
Despite global climate extremes, your desire to explore should prevail. Discover marvelous cultures and engage with them. We warmly welcome you to Peru and the wonders of Machu Picchu. For more detailed weather information, explore our comprehensive blog on Peru's climate. Also, consult our guide to essential packing tips for Inca Trail weather.
Health, Safety, and Trek Fitness
Your well-being is our priority. We want you to enjoy every moment. Prepare your body for the incredible experiences ahead.
- Vaccinations for Peru Travel: No vaccinations are compulsory for Peru entry. However, a yellow fever vaccination is highly recommended. This applies if you plan to visit tropical areas. Other suggested inoculations include tetanus, polio, and typhoid. Malaria vaccination is advised for specific regions. If traveling from Brazil or Bolivia, yellow fever inoculation is required for Peru. Always consult your doctor for personalized medical advice.
- Trek Fitness and Acclimatization: Our trekking tours are moderately challenging. This includes the famous Inca Trail, the picturesque Lares Trek, and the challenging Salkantay Trek. These offer genuine nature experiences. We recommend being relatively fit. Acclimatize for at least two days at altitude before starting. Engage in regular, moderate exercise beforehand. This will make your amazing adventure more enjoyable. For more details on trek difficulty, see our breakdown of Inca Trail and alternative tour difficulty levels. Also, read essential information on Inca Trail altitude and tips for altitude sickness prevention.
