Food on Inca Trail and Treks to Machu Picchu

Kenko adventures food

Many of our visitors do not have much information about the food that we serve in our treks, Kenko Adventures have a professional staff of chefs and cooking assistants very well trained to offer gourmet meals as well as traditional food; we use fresh products and a variety of meats (red, white and fish) of the highest quality. We also have one of the best options of vegetarian food as we believe that our service will be a perfect complement to have an unforgettable experience in Machu Picchu and our beloved country, Perú.

Our top ingredients and some dishes served:

Rice: We are pretty good rice consumers, so rice will be almost always present in our table in a variety of presentations.

Potatoes: Our ancestors inherited us more than 3000 varieties of these products, and it will be a pleasure to provide you some of them along our treks or in some restaurants that you will visit.

Corn: Our region produces annually a lot of different corn selections and we will gladly introduce you some of them.

Stuffed hot pepper: It consists in a mixture of vegetables, meat (chicken or beef) which is inserted into the hot pepper; after that they are covered with cheese and steamed to not lose its fragrance (this dish can be served in a vegetarian version as well)

Stuffed Potato: In this dish, the potato is mashed, then a filling of different vegetables is prepared; the filling is rolled inside the mashed potato. After it is fried for a few minutes and then served with a traditional salad.

Quinoa: Our way to prepare quinoa is very peculiar, we can prepare it as rice or make desserts with it, we also have a typical quinoa soup.

Steamed Trout: Trout is prepared in many different ways, one of them is just steamed so it can maintain its texture and aroma.

Fried Trout: This dish consist in just fry the trout and accompany it with olive sauce.

Alpaca: In our country, alpaca is considered as a very healthy meat and low in cholesterol, in this sense in our company, you will be introduced with alpaca meat in all of our menus along the treks

Chicken: Very important due to its protein content.

Guinea pig (cuy): It is very rare, but if some of our visitors would like to experience this meat in any dish, please require it at booking time.

Pancakes: An option for our breakfasts.

Toasts: Fresh breads accompanied with butter and marmalades.

Fruits: All varieties, as well as natural juices for our breakfasts.

Vegetables: Our selected and fresh vegetables are carefully manipulated.
