The so-called Inca Trail is only a section of the ancient Qhapaq Ñan, (road of the powerful, of the power or road of the rich) this pathing was used by the ancient Inca civilization as some sort of highway that connected the Inca Empire on its entirety. This section of the ancient road of the Incas has a total of 45 km or 26 miles and today it traverses what we know as Classic Inca Trail. This beautiful adventure goes through unparalleled landscapes in the world and you walk through the ancient ruins left by the Incas.
The hike needs you to be prepared and plan ahead. the access to the 4 days Classic Inca Trail requires a government permit that is acquired by us like local authorized Inca Trail operators.
The Peruvian government only delivers 500 Inca Trail Permits or availability per day, these permits are for tourists, tour guides and company staff that work providing the required services for this strenuous hike to be easier. For this reason we recommend do your booking 5 or 6 months in advance to get your perfect plan trip to Machu Picchu via Classic Inca Trail (plans timing may be even more important if you're planning to visit Wayna Picchu or Huchuy Picchu since only 400 tickets for these complimentary destinations are available in total per day).
