This route starts from kilometer 104 of the train line between Cusco and Machu Picchu, covering approximately 13 kilometers or 6.5 miles filled with stunning landscapes and fascinating archaeological sites like Chachabamba and Wiñayhuayna. The hike usually takes between 6 to 7 hours, including breaks to rest, take photos, to he food and enjoy the natural and cultural surroundings. During the journey, you will have the chance to explore the iconic Sun Gate (Inti Punku), the traditional entrance to Machu Picchu, and admire the region's diverse flora and fauna.
How to get a permits for 1 day inca Trail?
All hikers on the Inca Trail, including those doing the 1-day trek, must have a government-issued permit. These permits are mandatory and strictly regulated.

Starting from December 1, 2025, permits for the 1-day Inca Trail will no longer grant access to circuit 3 or any entry to the ancient Inca city itself so if you want to visit Machu Picchu same day or day after you have to get a diferent Machu Picchu ticket acording the availability and circuits that you want.

However, some Machu Picchu tickets and permits can be acquired through the government website https://tuboleto.cultura.pe/ or at the Cusco main office, but generally, the recommended to book the inca Trail tickets via authorized tour companies.
