We did the 2-day Inca short trail and every minute was meticulously planned and executed with grace, humour and accuracy. Our 2 days could not have been more enjoyable, with Elvis as MC, guide, local expert, motivational coach and child whisperer. Day 1 was a tough-ish 6 hour hike and Elvis anticipated everything. Knowing we'd need some extra help with our 8 year old, he arranged a second guide ( the very charming and warm Rene) to ensure both the fast ones and slow ones in our group felt supported. This was the most beautiful hike I'd ever done and a big part of my enjoyment was knowing that the rest of the family were safe and comfortable. We were on a very relaxed pace and able to stop for breaks as often as we needed. Never a rush, not once.
Elvis also has a sixth sense about when other tourists are likely to be around, and always got us into situations where we felt we were the only ones on the trail, approaching and at Macchu Picchu. Our arrival at the sun gate to a perfect, glorious view was unimpeded, and we approached it up that final stairway alone. It was magical, rewarding and awe-inspiring.
We finished day 1 with a sunset at Macchu Picchu then walking through the top parts with almost no one there, allowing Llamas to approach and examine us. The bus-ridedown, dinner and hotel were all too-notch. Not super luxury but great quality. We slept early anticipating day 2.
Day 2 could have started at sunrise, but we decided to "sleep-in" and head up at 7:30. It was another impeccable day weather wise and with Elvis who again navigated with precision and ease to get us to spots that others simply didn't notice, like the Inca bridge which was well worth the extra little hike. It was sunny and hot, but we always found a shady spot to stop and hear about the citadel/university and the fate of the Incas. Just enough info. to keep us curious, and not too much to overwhelm us. We spent about 4.5 hours touring with Elvis and by ourselves and that was plenty. With the 2 day pass, we couldve stayed longer but we were all getting hungry. We finished at about 1PM, took the bus down and, after another great lunch ( same restaurant as the previous night), I felt that people should know how excellent Elvis and his tour is.Mostrar menos
