Machu Picchu

Located in Cusco región in the midle of the Peruvian Andes, the Inca citadel was built around 1438 til 1532 and discovered in 1901 by local people and 1911 was exposed by American Hiram Bingham, still hides enigmas and mysteries about its real purpose, which continue to be hidden to this days and which arouse the interest of both visitors and archaeologists from all over the world. 
Due to its strategic location at the top of a high mountain, there are various theories about what it could mean for the incas. And some argue that it was was an important administrative and agricultural center whose cultivation areas served for the livelihood of its inhabitants, but with the new research said iut could be the mean Incas University where they were train the new importan people like  leaders, priests and kings.
The truth is that Machu Picchu is one of the greatest symbols behind what was the impressive architecture and engineering of the Inca Empire. Now a days Machu Picchu is still a enigma but anyone can realize how dificult was build the city over the Andes.

  • Lima-Cusco 1 h 20 minutes by plane approximately
  • Cusco-Ollantaytambo Overland: 1 h 30 min by car approximately
  • Ollantaytambo-Machu Picchu by Train: 2 h approximately
