Salkantay 3D Availability
The Salkantay trek, spanning 3 days, does not require permits or availability checks for the trail itself, but since Machu Picchu is the final destination, it's essential to verify the availability of permits for the Inca citadel. Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain offer fantastic alternative routes to experience the citadel from unique viewpoints and perspectives, for which permits must also be checked.
The Salkantay trek is quickly gaining fame worldwide for its vast landscapes and rich biodiversity, including a variety of flora and fauna. This path winds through the towering Humantay and Salkantay mountains, alongside stunning turquoise lagoons that appear almost otherworldly.
As the journey progresses, travelers will enter the tropical valleys of Santa Teresa. In these regions, local farmers engage in the cultivation of coffee and a range of fruits like passion fruit, oranges, papayas, bananas, along with honey bee farming. Visitors will have the chance to meet with some local families, immersing themselves in our culture and interacting with the community. They can savor exotic drinks and traditional dishes, with fresh avocados being a special treat.
